I don’t remember precisely where I was when I discovered Old No7 but I know it was somewhere in the area of Columbia Road Market. I love things that are worn, things that have an untold history that you can guess at if you have the vision and imagination. Old No7 has certainly seen many interesting times, it’d be a shame to paint over it, but one day someone will, as with all of the old doors and entrance ways I photograph. I still walk past many of them, often they have been refurbished much like No1 Fournier Street which was always one of my favourites (by Spitalfields Market) it has now been filled and sanded and painted. A fetching shade of brown no less. Progress. Well at least they didn’t replace it for a plastic one… Anyway enjoy Old No7 it will at least be here forever.
