The Unwilling Geisha

This is the last in my “unwilling Geisha” series [Clasping a Fortune, Perfect in my Eyes] and now we get to see the unwilling Geisha in her full glory. She looked magical in her kimono and her mother and (possibly) grandmother were extremely proud and rightly so. Yet our geisha was clearly unhappy, fed-up with walking in those awkward traditional shoes, tired from the weight of all that beautiful fabric, no doubt unhappy with the English bloke with the big camera asking for photos. Yet I am eternally grateful to have been lucky enough to have seen her in her moment of glory, and to have shot what I think is the most successful series of photos I came away with from Japan.
