This rose was found lying on the steps outside the new library in Berlin that has been built less than 30 meters from where the wall stood and where 3 people were killed while trying to escape to the west. The rose also sat less than 10 meters from a memorial inside the library of 28 sections of the old wall, one for each year of its existence, each with a year and a number painted on them representing the number of civilians killed while trying to cross from East to West each year.
